Tech Art Conveyor Belt

A conveyor belt intended to be used easily by leavel designers

Initial Ideation

Concepting and Art Director Approval

After some ideation and sketching, this was the rough design that got approved by the Mandatory_Update Art Director. 

I wanted to make something from start to finish that was a good demonstration of what I've learned, and also useful and intuitive to understand by my team.

Mandatory_Update, the capstone project I am the Tech lead of, needed platforming elements, specifically a conveyor belt. and felt like it was a perfect fit.

Modeling and UVing

I was very purposefull in the modeling, making sure the 2 segments where conncetected on a snapping of 50. As well as making sure the center peice was mirrored properly to line up with itself when multiple exist.

 

The UVs where done with 2 texture groups as the materials where different, and texel density needed to be preserved on the conveyor element as it would be an animated texture.

Tech Implementation phase 1

Implementation of the asset in the level was needed before UVs where finished, so I started on the programing side, Creating a User Widget so the length can be automatically updated.


As well as using a seperate type of math to update the trigger volume for the actuall movement effect.
